Onion

 An onion is a type of vegetable that belongs to the Allium genus, which also includes garlic, leeks, and chives. It has a distinctive layered structure with a strong flavor that can range from pungent to sweet, depending on the variety. Onions are widely used in cooking for their ability to add depth and complexity to dishes. Onions are a key ingredient in popular Indian snacks like samosas and pakoras. For samosas, onions are often mixed with spiced potatoes and peas, then wrapped in a crispy pastry shell. Pakoras are fritters where onions are coated in a spiced chickpea flour batter and deep-fried.
